What can I download free software to create rap beats?

I want to be able to add different sounds, adjust the tempo, store, retrieve and change projects. If it is spyware free. Loops Frooty tried, but the demo version can not save your work, so can not be accessed. You can not afford afford to buy now (I'm a teacher, is for children I work with). What are "loops" anyway? The actual sounds themselves?

I agree with people above me who said, Fruity Loops, although the more popular term for it would be FL Studio. Take a good look legitimate (test) or a version cracked.
